Immunization is an important factor of global public healthcare.
Fondation Mérieux has been holding the ADVAC, Advanced Course of Vaccinology, in Les Pensières since 2000. This course is designed for academic, hospital and occupational physicians involved in the local, regional or international decision-making areas in the field of vaccinology.
This training is organized in partnership with University of Geneva and supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. For two weeks at Les Pensières, this course, attended by 65 participants and some sixty speakers from all over the world covers a variety of topics, incIuding research and development of new vaccines, epidemiological economic and ethical issues, immunization strategies, vaccine safety and communication stakes.
Intensive training with a wealth of experience
During the two weeks of intensive ADVAC training, the participants take part in courses, group work and have exercises to complete. It is a unique and extremely successful formula, that focuses on discussions and exchanges of ideas. For several years now, the accent has been on studying actual situations and sharing the different experiences of the speaker and the students.
ADVAC, an exceptional opportunity to share experience and knowledge
About thirty fellowship students from developing countries attend Fondation Mérieux international course of vaccinology free of charge.
