13th GABRIEL network international meeting

November 27-29, 2024 - Les Pensières Center for Global Health

Context

The 13th GABRIEL Network Meeting will take place from November 27 to 29, 2024, at the Les Pensières Center for Global Health, Veyrier-du-Lac, France. Organized by the Mérieux Foundation, with the support of bioMérieux and the French Embassy in Brazil, this international conference brings together more than 80 participants from over 16 countries, who meet every 18 months to present and exchange the results of collaborative research work and design new projects within the network.

For this new edition, the program will be spread over 3 days. The first day will be dedicated to the organization of a symposium on emerging diseases and epidemics, composed of 3 sessions:

  • Methods for predicting and detecting the emergence of pathogens and epidemics
  • Factors contributing to the emergence of infectious diseases
  • Clinical research conducted in the context of emerging diseases

The second and third days will be reserved for members of the network and devoted to the scientific themes developed within the GABRIEL network: tuberculosis, acute respiratory diseases, antimicrobial resistance and emerging pathogens.

Finally, the “GABRIEL Young Researchers Prize”, created to help the career development of promising young scientists from the GABRIEL network, will also be awarded on this occasion.

About the GABRIEL network

The GABRIEL network was created by the Mérieux Foundation in 2008 and now has 22 member laboratories in 16 countries. The network brings together the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratories, local reference laboratories, as well as academic, university or hospital research institutes. This international scientific network works in synergy to develop the research and training capacities of local laboratories and improve the surveillance of diseases that have a major impact on public health in developing countries.
