For three days, biologists at the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease received training for viral load measurement, which determines the amount of virus circulating in a patient’s blood. This new technology transfer will improve diagnostic capabilities at the center and support its research. It will provide Malians with quality diagnosis and viral load monitoring without sending samples to laboratories in France.
Marc Tordjeman, president of Biocentric, accompanied by Nicolas Steenkeste, project manager at the Mérieux Foundation, taught the course, which covered how to perform molecular diagnostic tests on a Biocentric system and how to use specialized equipment.
The technology transfer will also make it possible to launch research projects on viral hepatitis at the center.
