In 2011, the microbiology laboratory of Kossamak Hospital was inaugurated.
The redevelopment of these laboratories improves hygiene and safety, the working comfort and motivation of staff and provides a better biological diagnosis for the Cambodian population.
In 2012, following requests from the Ministry of Health of Cambodia to strengthen provincial laboratories, a collaboration with Svay Rieng Hospital was initiated in south-eastern Cambodia, near the Vietnamese border.
Fondation Mérieux has been able to set up a laboratory offering a better quality in the hospital.
Partnerships developed with the World Health Organization, the Diagnostic Microbiology Development Programme and the US Naval Medical Research Unit 2 will provide training for laboratory staff and clinicians in the proper use of diagnostic molecular biology.
