The purpose of these trainings is to carry forward the work of LABOMEDCAMP’s first phase, during which 10 laboratories were established in 10 community health centers. The goal is to help strengthen capacities in biomedical analysis, good laboratory practices, and laboratory management.
Doctors and technicians trained at the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease
Trainings were provided to:
- Three doctors and three laboratory technicians from the Kayes region, from January 8-12 and January 8-19, respectively
- Five doctors and five laboratory technicians from the Ségou and Koulikouro regions, from January 29-February 3 and from January 29-February 7, respectively
The training was led by biologists from the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease in Mali, a research and training center created in 2005 through a public-private partnership between the Mérieux Foundation and the Malian government.
Objective: improve treatment for rural populations
LABOMEDCAMP launched its second phase in 2017, with the goal of creating eight new laboratories in the regions of Kayes, Ségou, Sikasso, and Mopti. The goal is to improve treatment of rural populations, particularly mothers and children, through high-quality diagnostics and biological monitoring in the regions of Kayes, Koulikoro, Ségou, Sikasso, and Mopti.
This project is the result of a partnership between the Mérieux Foundation, the NGO Santé Sud, the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease in Mali, and the Rural Doctors Association. It was made possible through collaboration with Mali’s Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, and thanks to the financial support of Monaco’s Department for International Cooperation and the Mérieux Foundation.
