Context

INSEQBIN is an online training program developed by The Mérieux Foundation and FIND, offering a comprehensive introduction to next-generation sequencing technologies and bioinformatics.

The course focuses on the principles of Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies, and offers an in-depth exploration of the key steps in bioinformatics analysis applied to sequencing:

  • Quality assessment and raw data cleansing
  • Sequence assembly
  • Annotation of results
  • Sequence alignment
  • Identifying genetic variations

Accessible entirely online, the course is designed to be taken at the learner’s own pace, with an estimated 4 to 6 weeks to complete (10 effective hours on the computer).

Objective

Through six training modules, learners will explore the fundamentals of sequencing, focusing on the crucial role of bioinformatics and the challenges inherent in sequencing.

A certificate of achievement will be issued at the end of the course, subject to successful completion of the final assessment.

Who can register?

INSEQBIN is aimed at a wide range of scientists wishing to enhance their skills in bioinformatics and sequencing, including :

  • Students of biology, bioinformatics, genetics or related disciplines.
  • Laboratory technicians involved in sequencing projects.
  • Researchers in biology, genetics, medicine and bioinformatics.

A basic knowledge of biology and molecular biology is required.

Simplified access

The course is available in French and English, each piloted by The Mérieux Foundation and FIND respectively. Learners can register online and access the course flexibly, enabling them to progress at their own pace.

INSEQBIN is part of a drive to democratize access to bioinformatics skills, helping to build the capacity of professionals and researchers to analyze genomic data.

To access INSEQBIN training, your registration will be taken into account and you will receive access to the platform on the 15th of the month following your registration.
