The Christophe Mérieux Laboratory in Beijing, part of the Institute of Pathogen Biology (IPB), is an applied research laboratory that was jointly created by the Mérieux Foundation and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) in 2005. It is part of the GABRIEL network, and contributes to collaborative research projects and training programs for scientists.
Surveillance of respiratory viruses
The Christophe Mérieux Laboratory identifies emerging and infectious pathogens and conducts research on the etiology and epidemiology of acute viral respiratory infections. It has a modern, well-equipped platform focused on identifying new viruses, offering important support to research project development.
In collaboration with PUMCH Hospital, Chao-Yang Hospital, and the Beijing Pediatric Hospital, the Christophe Mérieux Laboratory participates in several viral respiratory infection programs. The goal is to identify the viral and bacterial agents responsible for severe pneumonia in children under the age of five.
