Marcel Mérieux, a pupil of Louis Pasteur, sets up the Mérieux Institute to develop and manufacture human and animal vaccines.

Under the direction of Doctor Charles Mérieux, then his son, Alain Mérieux, the Institute becomes a world leader.


Fondation Mérieux is set up by Doctor Charles Mérieux in homage to his father Marcel Mérieux.


Doctor Charles Mérieux and Professors Jacques Monod and Robert Debré create the Agence de Médecine Préventive (AMP).
